NC Challengers 2009 Tryouts

Raleigh, NC – The North Carolina Challengers have announced tryouts for their fall 2009 teams in the 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U age groups for Saturday, August 8, 2009 at South Garner Park, Garner, NC. Times for tryouts are 8U, 14U, 16U from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 10U, 12U from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The 2009-2010 teams will be coached by the following individuals:

All players interested are encouraged to pre-register for tryouts by emailing their respective coach with the following contact information: player name, parent name, parent cell phone, email address, player birth year, and the age group for which you wish to try out. All players that pre-register by August 1^st will be guaranteed a free tryout t-shirt, so please specify your shirt size when sending your contact information.

At present, our 18U team will not be having formal tryouts. However, if you are an 18U player interested in playing highly competitive showcase softball, please contact our 18U coach, Andy Stewart at pier8s1@aol.com or (919) 302-9510.

The North Carolina Challengers, based out of Raleigh, NC, have been in existence since the 1990’s and strive to develop teams that can play at the highest of levels in North Carolina, the Southeast, and across the country. Challengers 14U Team Announces 'Golf Fore the Girls' Golf Tournament

The North Carolina Challengers 14U team will host their 1st Annual Golf Fore the Girls Golf Tournament on Monday, April 6, 2009 at River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh, NC, 9:00 AM shotgun start.

The tournament will feature a four-man best ball format and the cost is $75.00 per player or $280.00 per foursome. To register yourself or your foursome, please log on to the tournament website at www.golfdigestplanner.com/10483-NCChallengers.

CHALLENGERS TO HOST BEST-OF-THE-BEST INVITATIONAL

2009 Best-of-the-Best Invitational

Dates: July 10-12, 2009

Location: Thomas Brooks Park – Cary, North Carolina

Join the North Carolina Challengers for the Best-of-the-Best Invitational. This tournament will feature an invited field of the top teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia.

Get more value for your tournament dollar! The Best-of-the-Best will be played with longer time limits that will test your team’s depth.

If you are looking for exceptional competition, great facilities, long time limits and the type of game play that will get you ready for a national tournament, please make plans to attend this event today!

Age Groups: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U

Format: 5 Games Guaranteed; Four pool games into single elimination

Entry Fee: $350.00 payable to NC Challengers

Entry Deadline: June 1, 2009

Gate Fees: $5.00 per day (excludes coaches and players)

Game Time Limits: 1:20 pool, 1:30 bracket, no time limit on championship game.

Eligibility: A copy of your official ASA Roster (2 sided) and player birth certificates must be available to the tournament director upon request.

Insurance: Each team is required to supply their own insurance and be prepared to show proof of insurance upon request.

Rules: ASA Rules with free substitution on defense during pool games. Straight ASA rules during elimination play.

Other Info:

• T-Shirts to 1^st and 2^nd Place in each age group. Team trophies to 1^st and 2^nd Place in each age group.
• Concessions Available on-site
• Great area with plenty of restaurants and accommodations.
